Mortgage advice that fits you.

First home, next home, remortgage or protection. I work with anyone who needs a mortgage. Business owners and the self-employed are where I do a lot of my work, because that is where the paperwork tends to get awkward.

Initial consultations are completely free of charge. There's no obligation to proceed and our broker fee of £495 will only become payable if we proceed to a full application.

Running a business? Working for yourself? Just bought your first home, or moving up the ladder?

Whatever your situation, I'll give you honest advice, clear options, and a recommendation I'd be comfortable giving my own family.

I'm Alan, a mortgage and protection adviser. I've helped business owners, contractors, first-time buyers, and families across the UK find mortgages when the high street said no, and protect what matters if life doesn't go to plan.

Self-employed

The mortgage market wasn't built for you. Good job I was.

Lenders generally look at your payslips. If you don't have any, they panic.

But self-employed doesn't mean risky. It means you pay yourself differently. And there are lenders who understand that, they just aren't the ones you'll find on a comparison site.

  • One year's accounts? Some lenders will work with that.
  • Director taking dividends? There's a lender who gets it.
  • Sole trader with variable income? Still very doable.
  • Already been told no by a bank? That's usually just the start.
Talk self-employed mortgages
A word on the high street

Banks have their own products and their own criteria. If your income doesn't fit neatly into a payslip, they'll often decline, not because you can't afford a mortgage, but because their systems weren't built for people like you.

I work with a comprehensive panel, including lenders who take a far more human view of your application. The ones who look at the business, not just the box.

A no from one lender is not a no from every lender. It is worth a second opinion.

Alan is the nicest guy to deal with. As my husband and I are both contractors I knew he'd be the perfect person to help us with our remortgage. Efficient, friendly and knowledgeable on the market and lenders. Couldn't ask for anything more. Would definitely recommend, if you have any unusual circumstances Alan's your man.
Claire Friend
Contractor remortgage
I cannot recommend Alan enough. He has made the whole process so smooth and slick, and he's had to calm me down a few times because I had never been through this whilst being self-employed. It worried me what my options were, but Alan has such a vast knowledge of mortgages that I felt safe. So helpful and patient. We really are over the moon with everything you've done for us.
Emily Lacy
Self-employed, first time buying
From the first call to securing our mortgage offer, Alan put my partner and me at complete ease throughout the whole process. His knowledge of the market was incredibly helpful, especially as we were first time buyers and my partner is self employed and runs his own company. He made everything much easier to understand and guided us through from start to finish.
Molly Brooks
First-time buyer, partner self-employed
As a first-time buyer in this area, I had plenty of questions and uncertainties, but Alan was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and responsive from start to finish. He took the time to explain every step clearly and made what could have been a stressful process feel straightforward. I always felt confident that I was in safe hands.

Why use a broker?

My only job is finding what's right for you.

A bank can only offer you its own products. I work across a comprehensive panel of High Street and specialist lenders, with no sales targets and no product of the month.

Comprehensive lender panel
I work with many High Street and specialist lenders, including some not available direct to the public. You get the option that fits your circumstances, not the one that happens to be easiest.
One person, start to finish
You deal with me. Not a call centre, not a different adviser each time, just one person who knows your name and picks up the phone.
Backed by HLP
I'm appointed under HLP, one of the UK's leading mortgage networks. Personal service with the compliance and infrastructure of a major firm.
Remote or in person
I work with clients across the UK. Everything can be handled over phone, video call, or email, whatever works for your life.

About me

A bit about Alan

I'm Alan. Dad, husband, and someone who got into this job because I genuinely enjoy helping people work through a problem.

I know how stressful the mortgage process can be when you don't know what you don't know. That's why I explain everything clearly, answer every question, yes, even the ones you think are obvious, and stay in your corner from the first call to the day you get your keys.

I've been through the mortgage process myself. I know what it's like to sit across the table and not quite understand what's being said. That experience shaped how I work.

Yes. Being self-employed doesn't disqualify you, it just means you need an adviser who knows which lenders will look at your situation fairly. Some accept one year's accounts. Some work from net profit rather than salary and dividends. I'll match you to the right one.
